Hello Friends,
I'm so grateful God ordered your steps to my website and would Love to share some about my professional background. By His Sovereignty, my whole life has been marked by service to humanity, particularly children and families working through grief, loss, trauma, and life suffering through no fault of their own.
I've had the privilege of serving over 20 years in various program areas of social services from grass roots social work to state level consultation. At this season in life, I consider it a privilege and honor to offer Christ centered consultation as led by Holy Spirit. Below you will find more about my career highlights specific to: Child Protective Services, Therapeutic Foster Care, Adoption, Resource Development, Independent Living, Special Events Planning, Program Development, and Consulting.
By the power of Holy Spirit, I started in therapeutic foster care providing case management for children with moderate to severe needs approximately three years. I later transferred to Child protective services responsible for bridging the gap with community services to minimize the risk of children entering foster care. Both of these early entry positions provided opportunities to support vulnerable youth with empathy and compassion while establishing a solid foundation for more complex work.
By Divine providence, a door opened to maximize my gift for research, writing, and program development, allowing me to develop and monitor Alabama's first statewide post adoption program known as APAC which continues to thrive with positive impact after two decades. The model includes: Trained therapist network that allows families access to adoption competent clinicians; annual adoption camp that provides children a therapeutic weekend to engage with other youth on the journey and form lasting relationships; Adoption Buddy System which connects new families with seasoned ones to normalize complex challenges, lessen shame/isolation, and suffering in silence.
Another career highlight was Adoption placement Consultant for teens in foster care, which included writing thorough background summaries and working closely with AdoptUSKids to expedite national registration; handling all aspects of adoptions to include preparation of children, selecting families, adoption subsidy, and placement arrangements for assigned region.
I also served eight years as the statewide independent living consultant, responsible for developing and facilitating training geared towards preparing older youth in care for independent living; worked closely with independent Living Council made up of teen advocates who provided invaluable input around training and policy that directly impacted their future; served as a lead consultant for federal reviews and monitored statewide budgets and annual spending for millions in adoption incentive funds; planned annual adoption conferences worked closely with national experts with expertise around adoption trauma, grief & loss, attachment, and mental illness to name a few.
As a born-again Disciple of Christ, it's a real blessing to see how God has integrated my personal life as a mom through adoption with professional experience, and spiritual foundation for His Glory.
Professionally, I hold a B.S in Social Work with Alabama licensure and continuing education in grief and loss, trauma, attachment and bonding to name a few. As a member of NACAC North American Council on Adoptable Children, I'm informed of national outcomes, data, and practices in the field as guided by Holy Spirit.
Personally, I reside in Fortson, Ga with my loving husband of 23 years and teen daughter. In 2011 we launched a non-profit organization that provided soft
